Strelnikov Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Western Sikhote-Alin. The best-studied and complete section of the Strelnikov Formation is located in the Strelnikov Ridge.
Lithology and Thickness
The formation is subdivided into two members. Lower member consists of a series of sandstones, including siltstones and tuffaceous silty sandstones intercalated with two andesite beds with a total thickness of up to 500 m. Upper member is composed of frequently alternating sandstones, conglomerates, and silty mudstones beds with lenses of conglomerates with a total thickness of up to 1500 m.

Fossils
Bivalves Astarte ex gr. portana, Pleuromya sikkani, Isognomon sp. indet., Thracia sp., and ammonite Anagaudryceras(?) sp. indet. were recorded from the Lower member (Markevich et al., 2000). An ammonite Grycia pereziana has been reported from the middle part of the Upper member (Markevich et al., 2000). Species of Granticeras and Gastroplitinae along with gastropods and flora were obtained from other sections of the formation outside the Strelnikov Ridge (Markevich et al., 2000). The formation is dated as middle-upper Albian (Markevich et al., 2000).
